Our association with English Setters first began with beginner’s luck being allowed to purchase Carino on the understanding that he would be shown. He fulfilled all our expectations, not only in the show-ring but also as successful stud-dog and the best friend you can wish for.

  From our first tentative steps in the show-ring, to establishing our own line has taken us about four years. We started with an idea in our heads of the sort of lines that we wanted to follow. You know how it is – you stand at the ring-side watching dogs being shown and the odd one just catches your eye – and you think to yourself, “I like that one”, eventually you realize that the dogs that do this for you, are nearly all from a particular type – with the odd exception – so after studying hundreds of pedigrees we embarked on the expensive journey to our own affix.

Our foundation bitches were chosen to complement our long term breeding plans, after all, if you start off with good stock you stand a better chance of achieving your goals – and our goal is to try to improve the breed while keeping the older lines.

I think the best piece of advice we have been given is this:  “Always keep the best puppy for yourself, it does not matter about gender or colour”. So this is what we have done this year.
